Ban on company's milk drink lifted

The Federal Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW), on Monday, lifted the ban on sales and distribution of an Unikai's milk product in the UAE.
The administrative decision to lift the ban on the company's milk product has been taken after confirmation of various labs tests that the manufacturers adhere to the ministry's food safety regulations and standards, according to a senior MOEW official.
Obaid Mohammed Juma Al Matrooshi, Director General of the MOEW, said that the lifting of the ban on the 225ml milk drink manufactured by Dubai-based Unikai International foods, comes into effect under the ministry's Administrative Decision No.115/2009. "The producers have been permitted to make the particular product, which is now cleared of the ban, available across the UAE markets. Public can rely on the product, which has been proven to be strictly following country's food safety regulations," he added.
According to Al Matrooshi, Dubai Municipality (DM) had exercised strict control on the particular product on the basis of the ban, as earlier tests had found the product to be violating the food safety regulations and posing a threat to public health.
"However, latest results of lab analysis and quality check-ups at the DM laboratories have proved that the milk is suitable for human consumption," he said.
